Founder - Joe Abraham JoeA1010@aol.com

Joe was the founder and President of the Heat.  After coaching basically the same team from 1998 through 2003, he elected to move down to 14-U for 2004.   The team moved up to 16-U in 2005, playing a very competitive schedule, including Colorado Fireworks, Sluggerfest, Compuware and Stingrays.   The team won three fall tournaments and finished second in another.  In 2005, the team finished third at each Stingrays and Sluggerfest, 17th out of 55 at Colorado Fireworks and 9th out of 32 at Compuware, 3rd at GAPSS, tied for 1st at the Toledo Fast Pitch Classic and 1st at the 18-U GFOD tournament, as well as a second place in Zanesville and a third in Fairborn.   The team finished 48-17.  Several of his players are playing in college.  Joe is a graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in Journalism and Political Science.  He served as Sports Editor at the Chillicothe Gazette before entering law school at Capital University.

Joe has been assisted for ten years by Bob Scheetz, for six years by Eric Oliver and for four years by Jeff Childers. Eric has also served as the Head Coach at Cambridge High School, while Jeff is a long-time assistant at Johnstown H.S.

Joe Abraham founded the Heat in 2000 and was its President before accepting the Head Softball Coach position at Whitworth University in the summer of 2008. Abraham founded the Heat with his 16-U team in 2000 and watched the organization grow to two teams in 2001, four in 2002, and eight to eleven each year since. Abraham coached two Heat teams during his nine years and saw many of his players move on to play in college. Abraham was also the Head Coach at Thomas Worthington H.S. from 2003-2008. While he never imagined leaving the Heat, the opportunity to become a full-time college softball coach was too good to turn down. Whitworth University is located in Spokane, Washington.

Abraham can be reached at jabraham@whitworth.edu  or 614-271-4070.
