Many members of the
Buckeye Heat ’93 had
a successful 2009
school ball season.
Two of our players,
Sam Curry and Kate
Ardrey made it to
the State Final Four
in Akron, Ohio.
Their season ended
with a heartbreaking
loss to the eventual
state champions
Lakewood Lancers.
Heat ‘93 had someone
else who
participated with
another team that
made it to the State
Final Four, Colleen
O’Shea, who was a
member of the
Hilliard Darby
program this past
year. Other teams
that were
represented Buckeye
Heat did very well
also; Jessie
Stewart’s Highland
program made it to
the District
Semi-Finals and
shocked a lot of
people with the
surprise upset of
Jonathan Alder, whom
Jessica Day plays
for. Kelsi Rothfuss
from Fairbanks won
their first
sectional game, and
then was knocked out
of the tournament in
the Sectional Finals
by Bishop Ready.
Westerville North,
whom Alli Rowland
was the starting
pitcher for, made it
to the Sectional
Finals and lost to
an eventual State
Final bound Hilliard
Darby. Paige Conant
who played for
Thomas Worthington
lost in the District
Semi-Finals to the
surprise team of the
playoffs Dublin
Coffman. Delaware
Hayes, whom Cindy
Bowman played for
also lost to Dublin
Coffman in the first
round of
Sectionals. Kelsey
Swain from
Pickerington North
was also knocked out
of the playoffs by
Dublin Coffman, in
the Sectional
Finals. Lacey
Romero who played
for Mechanicsburg
was knocked out of
the playoffs by
Ansonia in the
Sectional Finals;
Ansonia was an
eventual State Final
Four participant.
